Switching from Ticket Tool

Ticket Tool is mature and runs on a huge number of servers. The friction usually starts when a team grows: basic staff actions sit behind a per-server premium, and there is no layer that watches response times. This page covers what actually changes when you switch, what it costs, and how to move your panels, categories and roles over without downtime.

Why teams switch

Claiming is a premium feature

In Ticket Tool, claim and unclaim only work with premium. For a team of more than two people that is the first thing you need. In DiscordNext, claiming, priority and transfer between categories are on every plan, including Free.

Premium is billed per server

Ticket Tool premium is $8 per month or $66 per year, and a subscription is bound to one server. If you run a main server plus a staff or event server, you pay twice. DiscordNext bills per account: Pro (€7.99/month) covers up to five servers.

Short forms, short-lived automations

Free forms stop at 5 questions. Automations are premium, limited to 10 per panel, and stop after 7 days or when the ticket closes. DiscordNext uses branching intake workflows (dropdowns, buttons, free text) and an SLA timer that runs until someone answers.

Transcripts live on Discord

Ticket Tool sends the transcript as a Discord message, so it is stored on Discord’s servers; DMing it to the ticket creator and auto-saving it are premium. DiscordNext generates HTML transcripts on every plan, can DM them to the creator, keeps image attachments so they outlive Discord’s expiring links, and is hosted in Germany.

How to switch, step by step

  1. 1

Write down your Ticket Tool setup

Open the Ticket Tool dashboard → Panel Configs. For each panel, note the Discord category it opens tickets in, the support roles under Permission options, the form questions and the ticket limit. That list is your blueprint.

  2. 2

Add DiscordNext and run the one-click setup

Add the bot, open the dashboard and pick the channel for your panel. The quick setup creates a “Support” category, a channel folder for tickets and posts a working panel. That gives you a live fallback in under a minute.

  3. 3

    Rebuild categories and teams

Each Ticket Tool panel usually becomes one DiscordNext category. Create a team per support group and attach the same Discord roles you used as support roles in Ticket Tool. Staff permissions follow those roles automatically.

  4. 4

    Turn forms into a workflow

Move your form questions into the category’s intake workflow. Where Ticket Tool asked a free-text “What is your issue?”, a dropdown that branches into follow-up questions usually gives staff better tickets.

  5. 5

    Set SLA and working hours

Set a first-response target per category and your team’s hours. Outside those hours members get an automatic reply with the time you are back, instead of silence.

  6. 6

Swap the panel, then remove Ticket Tool

Post the DiscordNext panel in the channel where the Ticket Tool panel was and delete the old panel message. Let open Ticket Tool tickets finish there. Once they are closed, remove Ticket Tool. There is no automatic import of old tickets.

When staying is the better call

Stay on Ticket Tool if you rely on its prefix commands and existing tutorials, or you only need a single basic panel and never claim tickets. It is a well-tested bot.

Frequently asked

Is there a free Ticket Tool alternative with claiming?

Yes. DiscordNext includes claiming, priority, transfer and HTML transcripts on the Free plan. In Ticket Tool, claim and unclaim require premium.

Can I import my Ticket Tool tickets or transcripts?

No, there is no importer. Rebuild panels, categories and roles (about 10 minutes for a typical server), let open Ticket Tool tickets finish, then remove Ticket Tool. Old transcripts stay where Ticket Tool posted them.

Can I run Ticket Tool and DiscordNext at the same time?

Yes. Both only react to their own panels and commands. Running them side by side for a few days is the safest way to switch.

What does Ticket Tool premium cost compared to DiscordNext?

Ticket Tool premium is $8/month or $66/year per server. DiscordNext is free for one server; paid plans start at €2.99/month and Pro covers five servers for €7.99/month.
